Diwali, also known as Deepavali or Devdi, is an important Hindu festival celebrated in India and Nepal. It marks the end of one year and beginning of another according to the Hindu calendar, and falls on the last two days of October or first two days of November (depending on whether the Gregorian date is before or after 1 November).It is celebrated for five days, starting with Pratipada which is followed by Narak Chaturdashi then Anant Chaturdashi then Padwa which marks the end of festivities. The name Diwali comes from Sanskrit dīpāvali which means row of lights - like lamps or candles.
